Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2011 - Batch 1 - Day 17
Jun
14 2011 – Day 17
Journey
– Dehrapuk to ZongZerbu – 24 kms by trek – via Dolma pass and Gauri kund
We
got up early in the morning got ready – there was some kind of uneasiness since
today is the first day of our open toilet system. But sooner we realized that
you can nothing about it and went on as usual business.
We
continued our yatra towards Dolma pass. It was steep upward ascent; testing all
our faiths and fitness. Only with the help of God we can cross this Dolma pass.
We chanted the mantra frequently and continued our yatra. We had good number of
Tibetan yatris who were travelling with us; and some of the foreign tourists
also. The Tibetans were visiting the shrine because of the Shiv rathri
function. According to the Tibetan calendar once in 16 years this type of Shiv
rathri comes. We considered very lucky since on the Shiv rathri we are in abode
of Mount Kailash – Om Namo Shivaya.
At
Dolma Pass we spent only a few minutes and started our downward journey. You
need to climb down. From Dolma Pass you can witness Gauri Kund where Ma Parvati
believed to take bath. We witnessed Gauri kund and proceeded to climb down. We
asked our porters to pick up holy water from Gauri kund and continued our
yatra.
From
this we had to climb down for about half an hour. After that the terrain
becomes flat and we had trek. This is one of the longest trail that we had to
negotiate.
By
around 1700 hrs we reached our camp at Zongzerbu and stayed there. The
facilities at the Zongzerbu is also very basic and open toilet system.
